the whole council knew that qui-gon didn't care that much for the jedi code, what they didn't know was that there was another jedi who didn't care for the code. ellora was qui-gon's wife, they had met when they were padawans. ellora was known for her force visions, and she saw stuff she knew she couldn't avoid, like the death of her husband and herself, no matter how hard it destroyed their padawans.
