Set in a world not unlike our own, we encounter two kinds of law enforcement officers: hunters and gatherers. One is lauded and one is ignored. But now they must come together to solve an old case, a cold case, an open case. One set, the hunters are determined to win. Their captain, Luxe, won't accept anything less. The other, composed of recently demoted Isys and her hot tempered younger sister, Issa, are focused on closing their case- and keeping some secrets from coming to light.

"The way he stiffens stirs something in me. Guilt maybe? I still might not be aware of what I've done, but I do know I don't regret doing it. So how is this man making me feel guilty with just a glance? The past is the past, but right now he's the enemy." After the devastating Carpa Malum killed 70% of the population, the world was left in disarray. Elders gone and children dead, and their remaining families left in the hands of a tyrannical government run by blood lust. A handful of the survivors, however, were found out to possess powers others could only dream to have. Castelle has little left to live for, wiling away her days in the slums of Trinity Central, but after being discovered, death isn't an option. She's taken in to fight for the government she's always loathed while a quiet rebellion starts to simmer in the streets. Thinking she knows what side she belongs to, her opinions of both are keen to change. Battling morals, friends, love, and herself, watch as Castelle fails to remember the word "justice".
