Emily Gordon, a Neuro resident puts in a transfer to Seattle Grace to be able to take care of her mother. When her mother dies she decides to continue through with the transfer. After divorcing his wife, Derek Shepherd decides to move across the country for a change of scenery, to become chief of Neurosurgery at Seattle Grace. They find themselves in a predicament upon meeting, will they be able to work it out, or will it all blow up in their faces?

Meredith is Derek's daughter's teacher but she also helps the older kids who are having trouble with school work more than others because the younger ones get out of school earlier then the others.
