Kate is the sister of Stefan and Damon Salvatore. She is a vampire because of Klaus mikaelson who turned her because of love and Kate hates him for it because her life has never been the same.

When Kate was young Damon and Stefan left her she doesn't know why ,but she is out for revenge and if that means getting blood on her hands and a few lives lost then she is happily willing to pay that price.
