Abandoning the family which had been supporting him all his life pricked him for the next 20 years. Mullai had very little remembrance of her aunt's family and had led a protective happy life since they left Kunnakudi until her father suddenly decides to get her married to Kathir- the third son of her aunt Lakshmi. Mullai enters into a life where her husband hates her family maybe her also and she is completely clueless about the reason for such intense hatred.
