How would you feel if you found out you were destined to be with someone with the same tattoo as you. For India Royden this is hard. After a boyfriend of 2 years, finding out she can't forever be with him is difficult and has a hard time dealing with it. In EastonVille, everyone was born with a tattoo somewhere on their body. 2 people in the town have the same tattoo and they are destined to be with each other. Once they hit the age of 16, they are allowed to search for their soul mate. For India, this is a difficult task as she can't find "him." The Chinese Symbol tattooed on her wrist is supposed to help her unlock her love life. Instead its causing her pain.

Everybody has a tattoo; they could be absolutely anywhere on your body. The tattoo begins appearing on the person's sixteenth birthday. Nobody has the same tattoo as they reflected the person's personality. They could be similar, but they are never duplicated. Depending on the person's soulmates mood, the colour of the tattoo changes. When they're mad, it turns a mix of deep red and orange, when they are embarrassed it changes to a bright yellow, when they are upset it turns blue, when they are feeling lonely it turns purple and so on. The only time the tattoo will light up and turn white is when the person and their soulmate are in a thirty foot radius and when you lock eyes with your soulmate, it begins to heat up. That's when you know you've finally found them.
