I gaped at him, my heart pounding. He had to be joking. He couldn't possibly be a Zoldyck, like the freaking family of assassin! They were infamous in the underworld. 

I played along. "Me, an assassin's assistant? Only a fool would refuse the job" My voice echoed louder this time. 

"Well there are no days off and it's a dangerous position. The training can be lethal. After all, you'll need to taste poisons. Some before you have chosen death instead. At least then they know exactly when they're going to die, rather than fearing it at every bite. " Illumi gazed intensely into my eyes. 


Training to become a professional assassin wasn't part of my career plan, but when I met Illumi, he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. 

This book is lowkey inspired by Poison study from Mariah V. Snyder. I took the assassin training trope and basically incorporated it into this story. I just like Valek too much lmao. Also I don't own hunter x hunter either.
