Tara was not a nice girl. In fact, she was quite the opposite. She had friends only because she was intimidating. She worked her way to the top of the popularity pyramid with blackmailing, rumors, and dirty little secrets. She has many 'friends' that stick with her but are nothing like her. She is the perfect movie-image of Mrs. Popular.

But when the laid-back, mysterious, new cute boy, Darren, walks into her History class, takes the seat saved specifically for her best friend, Lila, and props his Sperry's on the desk, everything changes.

Darren isn't intimidated by Tara, which ruins her. She wants him gone. But soon everyone is following him instead of her, and slowly, her plans start to crumple.
