"Madeline." He says. "I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry I lied to you. I'm sorry for kissing Sarah to get your attention. I messed up. Why won't you forgive me?"
"Because you don't care." I snap.
"I do." He insists.
"Really?" I turn to face him. "Am I attractive?"
He frowns. "No."
"Do you want to be with me for eternity?"
"No."
The hurt in my heart is strong as I ask, "Would you cry if I walked away?"
"No".
I reconnect the terminal wire to my car, fighting tears. I can't stay here anymore. I will not give the person that just shattered my heart the satisfaction of seeing me cry. As I turn to leave, he grabs my hand.
"Stay." He says.
"Get the fuck away from me!"
"You're not attractive. You're breathtaking." He says. "I don't want to be with you for eternity, I need to be with you for eternity." He takes a deep breath. "And if you walked away...I wouldn't even get to cry, because I would die first."
