Sixteen year old, Luna Grace Johnson finds herself an orphan after her first horse race. She lives in an alley before being taken to the Newsies' Lodging House where she then becomes part of the family. Luna forms a bond with all of the Newsies, one a little more than the others. The Newsies go on strike on July 20, 1899 due to Pulitzer raising the price of newspapers. When the Newsies try to stop the wagons, things go sideways. He wasn't so lucky this time around and passed away due to blood loss. This drove their mother into a state of insanity, forcing Davey and Les to pack up their things and leave. They now live on the streets with their fellow newsies, struggling to support themselves just like every other newsie. Their lives were still pretty crappy and hopeless, but hey, they were still alive and that was what mattered. Then, a new kid shows up at the gates of The World and sends their lives into chaos once more.
