They couldn't have been more apart from one another. Rosemary was young, beautiful, and ambitious with aspirations to be a circus performer, while James was middle-age and kept a pistol by his hip to keep his belly full and keep his home safe from the rain and wind.
Whenever James was asked about his livelihood, he kept the listener from the truth. Banker, cook, librarian-those were professions he would claim to have had. Out of shame and survival, he would keep secret how he made his dark money. Though they had little in common, the lives of James and Rosemary would converge and often conflict, and in the end they would each learn that who they really are goes beyond judgment, and retribution isn't always the way to salvation.
The Beige Saddle is a raw and gritty Western tale set in the rugged high-plains country and the economic panic of 1850s Kansas Territory. Here we share the struggles of a man and woman resolved to make their love work and raise a family.

If you've read one book, you've read them all. Right? Wrong? For Robinne James, every book she turns her hand to follows the same predictable, mind-numbing pattern. When you're able to predict a book's outcome from the first chapter, who wouldn't lose interest? She's tired of the same old boy-meets-girl story, as no one ever truly had a life like they do in romance books. Her own life has the same dull, predictable, mind-numbing pattern and as a result, she decides to uproot her life and swap it for hopefully much better one in the small Texas town of Dripping Springs. As a struggling freelance editor and hopeful future author, it wasn't too difficult a decision to make. Moving across the Atlantic will hopefully be a better life for her. It wasn't like she had much of a life back home in England to lose, should her decision be a bad one. Dripping Springs will hopefully be the place where she will finally discover who she should really be, finding a life that she never dreamed of having back home. Then again, straightforward plans had a way of veering off now and then, didn't they? Trying to figure herself out in her new home in her new life in America, including who she wants to be while avoiding as many clichés as possible, she now has to navigate around one stubborn, hard-headed yet pure-hearted cowboy. Oh, not to mention his four other brothers, his doting mother, his equally as stubborn father and one useless ranch dog.
