"Drop it." He said.

"You drop yours." My voice wavered. The light glimmered on one side of his face, the rest engulfed with darkness.

Somewhere behind the barrel of his gun, I could see the pain in his eyes, the betrayal.

I was on the verge of tears. This was all too much for one day.

My eyes scanned the cardboard covered floor, searching for a way out of this mess. There was no way in hell I was going down like this. I knew there was a window behind me, and a long drop until I would hit the ground. But there was no other option, I had to do it even if I risked losing my guard to Cole.

"You were lying to me this entire time." He shouted, his voice grating.

I closed my eyes winching at his aggravated voice.

"You lied to me too, Cole." I whispered. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the stomach with a knife. "You're gang is trying to take over my kingdom! Blackmail my family! Torture those poor villagers! What do you think I would do?"

He was silent, and his barrier almost broke.

"Some people do bad things for good reasons, Anna." Cole croaked.

"You were the one trying to get your hands on me!" I shouted, fueled with pain. I cocked my gun back still pointing at Cole, as his did to me. Fight or flight time.

It was now or never.

Adrenaline rushed through me as I launched out of the shattered hole through the window in my dress, slicing my torso on a piece of glass on my way through. I cried in pain, as bolts of electricity shattered through my body, the firing of the a gun rang through my ears.

I didn't know whether I fired or not, all I knew was I had to run. And fast.

CRINGE WARNING! First book I ever wrote on here!! -- "Sometimes the person who you are willing to take a bullet for is the person behind the gun." I stood peering over the cold lifeless body that lay before my eyes. I had always thought of death the enemy, but right now, I blessed it upon the person who is now at peace. Sometimes you don't need to be the smartest, or the fastest, but you do need to be wisest. They say the blood runs deeper than water, and I believe it, because even though the people that we love can turn on us and begin to hate us, they are only human, meaning that soon they will begin to see how short life really is and how it is not to be wasted. People who seem perfect and they look like they have no floors'; they are the people who are suffering, like I was. But I found my savior in the most uncommon place. He was able to look through my mask, he saw the cracks, and tried to fix the broken girl that hid away deep inside the girl who only wanted to be seen as 'fine'. I slowly began to find comfort and safety in him, and I did the same to him. We were two broken people becoming whole. Someone once said when you pass, if you can count your true friends on one hand you are beyond lucky, and I even though I did not like the person that lay before me, I know that he once had true friends, including me. I'm a 17 year old girl who has suffered more than any other, beginning to believe that 'Hope' was just another word the people throw around. Until I fell in love with a badboy. ‏**_"I never believed in legends-until I became part of one. ‏For centuries, whispers of a ruthless gang haunted my town, a group so feared that no one dared to speak their name. People said they weren't just violent men, but something far worse... something inhuman. ‏I thought it was just an old story. A warning to keep children from wandering too far at night. ‏I was wrong. ‏They are real. And now, they know I've seen them."_** ________________________‏ "No one touches you. No one looks at you. No one even breathes near you unless I allow it." ‏His voice was sharp, a growl vibrating deep in his chest. My back was pressed against the cold wall of his room, his body towering over mine, trapping me in place. ‏"Why?" My voice was barely a whisper, my pulse hammering against my ribs. ‏His hand came up, fingers threading through my hair before fisting it, tilting my head back so I had no choice but to meet his eyes-those stormy, merciless gray eyes that burned with something terrifyingly possessive. ‏"Because you're mine." ‏I swallowed hard, my breath hitching as his lips brushed against the sensitive skin of my neck. He inhaled deeply, his grip tightening. "There's something about you, something different. Your scent..." He let out a low, almost pained growl. "It drives me mad." ‏His other hand ghosted over my throat, his thumb pressing lightly against my pulse. "I should keep you locked away, hidden from everyone. But even that won't be enough, will it? Because no matter where you go, no matter how far you run... I will always find you."

Meet Isabel. She gets along with most people, not super popular but she's not a wallflower either. Isabel doesn't need anyone else in her life not to protect her and certainly not Derek and his crew. She lives with her brother and father . They share a secret that could land them in jail. She can fight almost anyone and win, this girl kicks a$$. Yet Isabel has a past that features in her nightmares, making her afraid to sleep alone. --- "Hey?" I heard but didn't reply. "Hey!" I still didn't reply. A hand grabbed my arm and I twisted out of it on instinct. There was a glimmer of surprise in his eyes as I faced the last of the Five in the now almost empty hallway. Derek. Almost as tall as Mac. Black hair like the twins with ice cold blueish grey eyes. Same fighters build, six pack and all but not as soft as Mac or as feminine as the twins beauty. He was more rugged. I did understand the appeal of these boys but there were a lot of good looking guys on the swim team too and I did go with Jarred when he had fights. "You know we wouldn't let anyone hurt you right? Even if Jarred isn't around, we'll be here to protect you." I blinked. I blinked again. Nope, he was still standing there with the same serious expression. Derek, the unofficial leader of the Five, the boy every guy would want to be friends with and every girl would love to sleep with, was offering me his protection. I did the only thing that made sense in that situation. I burst out laughing. I was laughing so hard that I doubled over and when I glanced up at him I just cracked up again. He stood through it all without any emotion on his face, there was barely a glimmer of anger in his eyes. If anything I might have seen some surprise. I patted him on the arm and winked. "You. Are. Funny! I don't need you idiots to look out for me. But thanks for the thought." With that I quickly made my way to class.

...there is a charm about the forbidden that makes it unspeakably desirable. " Kharis, why don't you just tell me how you feel because how you act is confusing me. " I said fed up with the uncertainty of our situation. " Is there something here or am I just making a fool of myself?" I scoffed. Having said that out loud, a cloud of embarrassment built over me. Of course there was nothing between us, he wasn't capable of looking at me as anything other than an intruder to his perfect little family. He just needed a shoulder to cry on and a heart to play games with and like the fool I am, I served it up to him on a silver platter. This was nothing but a way for him to deal with the whole Kalen situation. I was just a distraction. He remained completely silent and that was a good enough answer for me. I should have crushed this stupid crush years ago. I should have never let him get this close. " Okay, " I said softly. " I get it, I was just a distraction, a way to deal with what's happening." I had to fight real hard to fight back the tears that were just begging to be let free. He doesn't deserve them, no one does!. " I should have known! " I said feeling like an utter fool. I attempted to push past him but before I could he stepped in front of me and looked me dead in the eyes. Shit, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned Kalen. He kept his eye contact as he slowly got to his knees. He's eyes were watery at this point and the guilt of mentioning Kalen was beginning to eat me up. Shit, shit! " I'm sorry, I shouldn't have..." I said getting to my knees as well. " I don't know how you've been able to over look all the shit I put you through over the years." He said with such a low tone, i don't think he was talking to me. He immediately looked away probably ashamed of himself. " I'm blackened at the heart by all the pain I caused you, so don't apologize I'm only getting what I deserve.
