The Last Breath

"Her mother was lying motionless in her favourite armchair. Blood trickled down the side of her mouth and seeped through the wound in her heart, pooling on the floor near her feet. Her white nightdress was a deep crimson-red, as beautiful and haunting as a rose that had fallen on the snow. Her deep brown hair fell in waves over her shoulder, partly covering her bloodied and bruised face.
