In a world that was destroying itself it was near impossible to find anything pure. But that's what made Delilah Reed so unique, an unimageable pureness in the midst of a sickening darkness. She was a single streetlamp, that was still burning through till morning light, whilst the others had burnt out before the last star appeared in the sky. Delilah was simple, but if people paused and took time to look she had inconceivable beauty. It may have been her smile and the way her dimples sunk further the wider it became. Or her eyes, who they came alive with passion and a certain understanding or sympathy when conversing with another person. This beauty is what everyone held onto, grasped in times of need so that she could show them the endless possibilities beyond the thickening darkness.

While she was made from light, he was made from darkness and destruction.

The future was here, or so he was told. This wasn't the future he imagined, this wasn't the life he had wanted or asked for. Yet he was here and there was no going back. The mistakes haunted him, followed around attached by an invisible chain to strong to be broken. The faces of his past never let him go, grasping onto the edge of his brain waiting for a chance to slip into his thoughts.

This wasn't how it was supposed to be, could two hearts mend one another? Or will the darkness be overpowering and cause impending doom?
