Grace and Simon Basset are each other's only true family being the best of friends since they were children. Both of them outcasts in their own homes. Time goes on and Simon leaves for Oxford and then coming back with a new companion, Anthony Bridgerton from London.
A couple of years later Grace becomes married to an abusive and dominant man of whom she does not love. Anthony has become a stubborn viscount inheriting it from his late father who will do anything to keep Grace and her past wrongdoings out of his life. And when Simon comes back to deal with his late father's affairs it brings the two seemingly enemies back together in a story full of secrets, deceit, and remembering who you truly are.
