lupin has finally come out and told Sirius that he loves him but that was long ago when they were still in Hogwarts and when wolfstar was still a thing, but Sirius has been bitten and dosen't feel welcome to this world any more since he is the most wanted when he's a werewolf and most hated for being gay when human since back in the 1900 it was wrong to to like the same gender

Panicked, Sirius arranges a marriage between his brother and his friend James Potter, knowing that Regulus can be the man he is in the English countryside in James' estate, which is a sort of safe haven for homosexual servants who are running from the law or are already convicted. James wants to ensure Regulus' happiness, even at the expense of putting his life on hold for a while. Regulus wants to ensure James doesn't fall into societal ruin because of him.
