Born A Princess

"The King's death has been confirmed."
Is the first thing I hear after walking through the door with the groceries for tonight's dinner.
Instantly, I burst out with laughter. How do people usually react to this sort of thing? It's an
overwhelming feeling of confusion, so I just laugh.
My guard, who's sitting on the couch watching TV, jumps up from her comfortable position to
rush over to me. Cautiously, she starts, "Luna, honey... Are you okay?"
I don't know how to answer this question. I barely know how to feel. So, instead, I continue
laughing, adding tears to the mix. Imagine being me. A girl who's forced herself to be away from home,
away from family. A girl who gave up what little time she didn't know she would have, with her father. A
girl who wants, but knows she could never and doesn't have the right to have a normal life. A girl who
can't find out her father just died like a human being with feelings.
But this is my life, and I have to accept it whether I want to or not.
Why?
Because I was Born a Princess.
