Peter raises his eyebrows at me, obviously not believing me. "Come on Gemma, I've seen the way you look at him. I'm not stupid."
I merely shake my head in response to his comment, my face growing hot with embarrassment. Am I really that transparent?
"You were in Candor, you're supposed to be honest." Peter sucks his teeth jokingly.
"I'm not lying. I really don't find Eric attractive."
I hear a dark chuckle behind me. "Care to repeat that, initiate?"

Transferring into Dauntless was an easy choice for Gemma Solace. She had always been drawn to the faction and it was no shock to her when the Aptitude Test told her she was a fit for Dauntless.
When she arrives in her new faction, however, things become complicated when she meets Eric Coulter.
Gemma finds herself inexplicibly drawn to the cold, bitter man no matter how hard she tries to stay away.

{BOOK ONE} There are five factions. Each had their own reasoning for thinking why the war had happened. Dauntless; cowardice and fear. They strive to be brave, fearless. Erudite; ignorance. They strive for intellect, to be smart and curious. Candor; deception. They strive to be honest. Amity; they blamed the war itself along with fighting. They strive to be kind, forgiving, peaceful. Abnegation; selfishness. So they strive to be selfless. Dauntless are our police. Erudite are our teachers. Candor is the law. Amity are the farmers. And Abnegation are our government. I would sit on the ground everyday, wearing my yellow dress with black sandals. Wasn't the best thing for me. Dresses made my shoulders to broad, especially the flowing ones. When I was home alone, or with my mother, I would wear I tight black shirt and white shorts. No one would really approve, mostly because they were Candor colours along with the fact it's not... welcoming enough. I never understood Amity, not because of the kindness and the peacefulness; well, mostly the peacefulness. Whenever it should come down to defending ourselves or walking away. We walked away. It takes you through his journey through initiation on in to leadership. He also develops a love interest that isn't in either the books or the movie. Eric Lets Go
Dauntless has created an image for Eric after an incident during his initiation and no one knows the real him nor do they want to know the real him. When it is time for new initiates, he has to overlook their training as part of his leader training. When an Amity transfer gets a little too close to Eric, she wants to know who he really is, NOT the ruthless leader image he projects to be. Eric doesn't know how to react because no one has ever tried to get close to him before so how should he react? Will he react in a good or bad way? Does she despise the real Eric or will she help him let go of the past and love the real him? All rights/ credits go to Veronica Roth.
