Maria is entering her sophmore year. She isn't your ordinary 15 year old girl. She doesn't have a boyfriend, she hasn't had her first kiss, or a crush.

she is a very stunningly beautiful (even though she denies it) independent young, careless, wild, and reckless chick who just wants to go out with her main girl friends and explore the world together being adventurous. You would be surprised Maria hates her current life, well the one she lives in, not her fantasy world where her friends and her go out to Laguna Beach, rent a house in the beautiful, hot deserts of Las Vegas, or go out in one of her friend's fancy house yachts to Miami. She shuts everyone out, including her friends who try to help her in hard situations and everyone that comes to her life (also including the hottest guys you'll ever meet who are great boyfriend material) afraid of getting hurt in the end.
