At the dawn of time, Dragons ruled the world, and lived peacefully among others. When the age of man came, the Dragons were threatened by them, and they turned to annihilation before the mammalian creatures would kill them first. But one day, a man created a bond with a Dragon, both of their souls completing the other. He was half Dragon himself, and soon enough their were two species of human beings. But the other Dragons, the ones who wanted to destroy man, killed off the Dragon Riders and their Dragons, and only a few survived.
The survivors went on trying to kill all Dragons, forgetting about the bond they could have shared. To this day, the last few of these bloodlines call themselves the Dragon Hunters.
Rhylee Grey, Diana West and Mckenzie Connor are sixteen and unaware of the prophecy that awaits them. Rhylee's parents tell her friends and Rhylee the truth of their ancestors past, and that Rhylee is the last great descendant in her family.
With the help of another Dragon Hunter, Rhylee has to learn of her past so she can prepare for the future.
Now the four friends must travel to the high mountains, in search of the Reign of Fire, the place where it all started. The Dragons there must be killed, or the world will end as they know it. As far as Thomas Rider is concerned, the Dragon Hunter that saved Rhylee.
But Rhylee was never one for violence, she believes another way is possible. And one of the Dragons might not be the danger, but the saviour...
In her mind she can either choose one thing or the other.
