"The stars don't look bigger, and they don't look brighter."

Corporate dystopia has overtaken not only Equus, but the entirety of inhabited bodies across the universe. Those who sought freedom from the heavy-hooved corporations have been systematically destroyed and erased from the news and ponies' minds, until the Free System of the Other Galaxy declared its sovereignty. The eleven planets nestled there can take care of themselves, and no amount of damage control can keep the Free System out of the minds of the masses.

Siliv was the first planet in the galaxy to declare its freedom from the Grand Equestrian Alliance. It went easily until the trade embargo made a quick example of a planet already known for its barbaric practices. Any businesses there were gone in days, their supplies depleted, and, with no way to obtain resources nor a viable currency, they settled into bankruptcy.

Siliv became a hub for the black market and hideout for shady figures. The government was disbanded, and any half-honest business was destroyed.

Xylexa is a Siliv native to the bone. She worked for her parents' business until the separation, flying diplomacy and scavenging missions for their company. Now that she is no longer considered a citizen of the GEA, she takes the Godmare on dangerous missions into Restricted Space to try to keep herself afloat.

The Wakeful Wanderer's Guide to Disillusionment by JimInfantino
40 parts Complete
Book 2 of the Wakeful Wanderer's series. Book 1 is The Wakeful Wanderer's Guide to New New England & Beyond. That's a good place to start. It's available here. The America of our near-future is divided across socio-economic and technological-philosophical lines. The Traditionalists eschew any and all post-human technologies in favor of tangible materials. They uphold strict hierarchical structures based on religion, family, and leadership. They long for the return of the global markets wiped out by a world-shaking disaster called The Great Tide. The Interconnected stand in stark opposition to their ways, living without property, family, or religion, and modifying their bodies with the help of new and invasive technologies. They speak to each other wordlessly, employing a technological telepathy they call 'thexting' to communicate mind to mind, and embrace the gifting economy of Merit to maintain their post-scarcity lifestyles. Marto, the traveling Interconnected historian, has exiled himself to protect the ones he loves from his dark secret. In his absence, Helen, a runaway Traditionalist aristocrat, struggles to find her place among the Interconnected, unwilling to return to her cruel family. Reyleena, the former head of security in the Interconnected town of Reverside, has returned to a life of quiet solitude, broken occasionally by the impositions of The Other, an omnipresent AI, who will not leave her alone. Meanwhile, Barnabas, the Traditionalist leader of New Atlantic, fights to return to his township in the wake of an attack. Nora, his sister, remains in Reverside and must come to terms with her new life in captivity.

[Complete] Stealing stuff is supposed to be simple. But when I decide to rescue a ComfortUnit from a company that I faked my own death to escape, and they're hauling "pesticides" that don't seem to have much agricultural value, things get a lot more complicated. Add to that, there are still humans around to get hurt by corporate paranoia/ secrecy/ vindictiveness, and things are...well, yeah. This is going to be a lot. ___ From the perspective of an original SecUnit character named Nine (because I'm sensitive to "Murderbot would not say that"). ___ Content warnings: - Strong language (swearing) - Canon-typical violence - Serious injuries - Disfigurement or non-consensual body modification (occurs off-page, discussed) - Minor character death - Blood and gore - Fire - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Chemical Weapons ___ Other tags: - The Corporation Rim is Terrible - Corporate Espionage - no beta we die like murderbots - Heist Silly tags: - Unreliable narrator(s) but only because of the brain damage - If sarcasm were rocket fuel we could be an intergalactic civilization by now - Hurt/ComfortUnit, or HurtUnit/ComfortUnit (pun, no romance) - Grumpy-sunshine dynamics but the sunshine person is just as damaged as the grumpy person - If it's unsafe to be yourself, you'll always pretend to be someone else - If you always pretend to be someone else, you'll never know who you are - If you never know who you are, you'll never know what you want ___ Inspired by *Fugitive Telemetry*: "I started to say that they never used SecUnits for espionage, and then I realized I didn't actually know that for sure. Take away our armor and alter our appearance and give us the right module..." ___ Cover created in Canva. Both images are called "Modern technology icon" by iconsy.

At first I thought I'd pick something a bit out of my comfort zone (so.... NOT SciFi for once...) to expand my horizon, but when I saw a prompt about time travel I was immediately inspired. Please keep in mind, all of this is WIP! The title, cover, and some of the content might change at any time... I have an outline and I worked hard to come up with a compelling and consistent story line, but due to the nature of the story (timey whimey stuff!) I might have to revise things a few times as I write. I'm grateful for any feedback and I hope you enjoy :)

Crown prince Kie'a of the Sovereign is a man with a moral compass that doesn't quite fit within the confined living quarters of the space vessel. He fights hard, spending over a decade of his young life forcing earth knowledge into every spare neuron assessable. Is it the drive for freedom, as the prince lives a life forced behind a suit of armor- or the drive to make something more of ones life? The United Federation is Earths globally recognized governing body that controls the existing colonies of Earth. After far too many post world war civil battles for Martian rights, Old Berling leads the U.F front with its ability for its citizens to coexist well with the mutants, the humans, and the Martians. However, bigotry is not easily solved. U.F soldiers Malakai, Hendrix, and Zed are tasked with learning more about the otherworldly Maxis Sovereign and in doing so is forced to co-exist in the alien colony.
