The Giant Awakening is coming. The dwarves of the Black Axe, protectors of the frozen North, know that much. It's been fifty years since the last one, since the war that almost ripped apart Suramar and Hiramar. Kadrir, dwarf general of renown, and his band of new recruits, will have to trek to the Mountains of Asha to begin their watch at the most dangerous place in the world. They'll cross the wastes prowled by plagues of ashikh, evade the citadels of the giant-worshippers, and battle with mutant goblins. But when the dwarves' old allies turn against them, a new, darker plot threatens to wipe out Suramar's tentative peace. Carrying the weight of the world's destruction on his shoulders, along with the baggage of an unexpected old romance, it's a race against time for Kadrir - before the giants are freed once again. -- Ongoing novella with regular updates. While dwarves have complicated views on gender, the main romance is between two men. Easy reading with plenty of high-fantasy, dwarf-centric worldbuilding.
