Before Umbrella started the virus in Raccoon City, they were focused on many other projects such as the project that was discovered in a lake that hid a female adult who was encased in her own chamber. Once transporting to one of their facilities, they named her Project Hybrid after discovering no matter the strings of viruses, Hybrid never changed. But she escapes only to come out of hiding when hiking through the Arklay Mountains only to have undead hounded following her until they trap her into a mansion. There she meets Jill Valentine and her comrades, who Jill is searching for, Barry a man who gives the Hybrid a bad thought, and Albert Wesker, a scientist who is undercover for Umbrella, who is also on the lookout for her. 

After the Tyrant is released Maria is brought down, and let her friends go only to be saved by the one person who wanted capture her.

Author's Acknowledgement: I remember first being exposed to Resident Evil when I watched Resident Evil: Degeneration (and for the first ten minutes, believing that they were real people). A few months later a cousin of mine went off to college, and gave me his PS1 along with RE 1, 2, and 3. And although I thought the graphics were terrible and the acting could have been better, it was a challenging and fun game experience. I hope I resurrect the classic horror survival feel from the original Resident Evil games in Virus Kids.
