Before Twilight and the return of both Princess Luna and the elements of harmony there was just Princess Celestia and her niece Cadence, when a changeling spy approaches the princess speaking of an upcoming attack on Canterlot she has no choice but to plan a defence, but her royal guard are trained to fight off Changelings, in fact Equestria hadn't seen changelings for over a hundred years. The princess decides that now is the time to unleash her secret weapon, eight hired mercenaries that she had collected from around the know lands of Equestria and beyond, plus the new changeling Spy. Hopefully they won't fail in their first real mission.
((This is pretty much what would happen if the tf2 mercs were born in the mlp universe, so things are probably going to be a little different about them, you have been warned. Takes place a few years before the return of Nightmare Moon))
((This story is not related to my other tf2/mlp crossovers, it's just an idea that I had but I want to finish this story before going back to Worlds of Friendship and War))

Okay, good. So, this is obviously a sequel to my last story, Songs of Innocence, but if you haven't read that, that's okay! The explosive first chapter of this story will seamlessly make you understand who Sun is, which is what's most important! You can even think of the previous story as just the pilot, while this is the main series, so to speak. This story will be a much more... casual read. Unlike SoI 1, this one is not based on a previous draft, so I'll just be making it up as I go along this time. Oh, and by the way, I think I gotta say this, so... Rachel is the daughter of Grogar and Nightmare Moon. She wishes for nothing more than to be reunited with Nightmare. But what lengths will she go to to achieve her goal? And where should she look for her real friends? And when the statue of Queen Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow is stolen from Canterlot Gardens, Luster Dawn comes into the story. This will also be a Cozy Glow reformation fanfic. Excerpt: Meanwhile, In Canterlot, Twilight, Cadence, Flurry Heart and Celestia stood on the four corners of a complicated circular design illustrated on the floor of the throne room. Each was sweating, the magical auras around their horns beaming brightly. In the center of the magic circle, the auras wove into a rainbow beam. Through the open skylight in the room, the beam shot out, facing the moon directly. Luna was standing on the side, looking up at the moon in hope. A rainbow sphere at the tip of the beam was coming closer and closer. It was slowly lowered into the throne room until the entire floor was just a ball of light. At once, the auras disappeared and the four alicorns stepped back. The light gradually died down to reveal a purple figure with large dark horns, curled up on the floor, clutching a silver hourglass.
