Kierra and Michael are best friends. Well, they were. Around their freshman year of high school, Michael joined the soccer team and Kierra joined the school newspaper. They both gained in their popularity in their respective ways. Around senior year, though, the friendship began to crumble. If you let Kierra tell it, Michael let his impressive moves on field go straight to his head. But, if you let Michael tell it, he was getting all this attention from other girls which interfered with their plans. As they begin to walk into young adulthood, they were estranged friends. Simple Hello's and Goodbyes in the summer heat. Even though they tried to reconcile before the fall, they let their friendship fall to the wayside. Now, here they are Seniors at the same University. A journalism major reported to Kierra's mind. Being a Music Major with a concentration in teaching sung to Michael. Isn't it funny how life brings us right back to where we haven't been?

Katiya Carpenter was born and raised in a perfectly small beach town. She spent her summers with the well-off "summer kids" and her best friends, she worked at the diner, and was top of her class. Life was good, until it wasn't. Eventually, Kate finds herself cheated on and unsure of her future. Until the Michaels move into town for the summer. And it might just happen that Jackson Michaels is exactly what she needs. ----------- I turned back to my friends, my eyes instantly running into Jack's. He was standing in front of the bleachers with Hendricks and a few other guys, talking to Genny. Jack was staring at me, as soon as I turned he flipped his head the other way. But it was too late. "Jack, right?" I said, smiling and getting his attention. "Yeah. You're Katiya, Kate." He gave me a dazzling smile. It made me smile back at him. "I mean, most people just pick one of the options, not both." He chuckled a little and took a step towards me. "Both is good. Who are you here to see?" He asked, looking around, and past me. "Nobody in particular." I seemed to say easily, even though I was in fact, here to watch Jason and my dad. "I mean, everyone. I know a lot of people. Small town." I tried to correct myself immediately, and I noticed Hannah holding back laughter as I stumbled on my words. "Gotcha." He said, still smiling wide and taking a glance back at the field. "Good to see you again, Katiya Kate." This time he said it as if it were one word. It made me smile on the inside. He turned and jogged back towards his team. I was such an idiot.
