Sarah Reese and Connor Rhodes get closer and come to mean more to each other than they're ready to admit, all while dealing with the soap-level drama that intertwines itself in their lives. This is an AU of sorts, when Sarah was choosing her specialties she still put Pathology as her number one choice, but she also put Emergency medicine and Neurology, and when she decided she didn't want to do pathology she didn't have to quit the program because she was accepted into all three, and decided to have two specialties; ED and Neuro.

alternate universe: season one starts in 2018 "Three years ago, it took seeing the helicopter fly in the Wisconsin sky from his hospital bed for him to realize that he had stuck through five years of residency for nothing." ༺═──────────═༻ Four new fellowship doctors face challenges as they become full-fledged EMS physicians at Gaffney-Chicago Medical Center. This is a battle against time; and also a battle against grief and loss as they navigate messy hospital politics. Dr. Oliver Hart, in particular has to face health issues, which rears its ugly head to derail his life once again. Meanwhile, Jeff Clarke, former best friend from high school, reappears in Oliver's life. It had been 15 years since he cut off all contact with everyone he knew; Jeff finds that things have changed, and Oliver isn't keen on reconnecting with him. Whether they like it or not, they are brought together again.
