On an Earth that has joined a federation of alien planets-the Circuit-two young Earthlings form a friendship based on mundane problems that escalate into a Circuit-wide plot.
Mona Pavlov faces pressure from her politician parents to follow in their footsteps while they treat her with kid gloves. Dezzie Apollo is determined to become the youngest interplanetary pilot. With each other's help they could, hopefully, maybe, live up to those expectations.
But then Mona and Dezzie overhear a plot of the enemies of an old war and are forced on the run. As they travel from planet to planet, meeting new people of various fame and fortune, the two must decide what to do with this inflammatory secret. Exposing it will pit them against their government-- and ruin their dreams for the future-- but keeping it means unleashing an interplanetary war on the Circuit.
