"I LOVE YOU SARAH WHY CANT YOU GIVE ME A ANSWER DAMNIT!" She begged feeling the burning sensation of her scream scratch her throat. Never been so emotionally exhausted and hurt. She fell to her knees in the hall as her glossy eyes burned into mine.
Sarah couldn't muster a word. She began gasping for air as she too cries out. Sarah was so scared to say anything because she knew the next words that came out of her mouth meant everything. She had to consider her mother, what would she say ? What would happen to her if father found out ? Sarah began to feel her heart race even faster. What about all the things Sarah promised herself? She shook her head cupping her face with her hands. She released light sobs as if she was holding them back. She could feel there presence beside them and sure enough they felt there hands rub alongside her arms. Sarah finally moved her hands and lunged herself onto them burying her face into there neck. She took one last deep breath and sighed.
"I'm so sorry.."

My shelter from the storm
Anita," her angelic voice calls to me. Thunder rumbles in the distance. Her soft, delicate hands caressing my face, sparkling green eyes grounding me from the dark past I wish I could forget. "You're safe, it's okay." I bring my hand up, running my finger over the mound of scar tissue. The constant reminder of that night. The raised bump covers the bullet fragment embedded in my sternum. She takes my hands as more thunder rumbles and tears roll down my cheeks. "Breathe Anita," she says in a soothing whisper. My lungs were burning with the need for air and it was then that I realized I'd been holding it. I take in a gasping breath and recall the first time my eyes met her green eyes. My sister had been lifted off me and my eyes opening had startled her. The first time she touched me gave me strength to hold on. I held her hand tight, trying to tell her what happened, but couldn't get enough breath to form words. Sitting in the present going through the same as I had five years ago. "They were all found, Anita. They can't hurt you anymore. It's just a storm. All the doors and windows are locked, the alarm is set. It's just you and me." "Will you keep the light on tonight, please?"

She remembered her scent. It seemed to verify her aura. Her scent was cherry Coke and cigarettes. The latter one was passed onto her, especially after she had handed her her first cigarette only three months ago. Three months was all it took for her to develop that bad habit, but it wasn't the first nor the only one she developed in that period of time. Now she laid on the roof where she had smoked her first cigarette three months ago, and she glanced over at the full can of cherry Coke sitting on the concrete next to her, almost as if it were mocking her. A dull ache formed in her heart, a hollow, resounding ache that penetrated her deepest core.
