Now he is wrestling with both his addiction, and someone he was supposed to marry in 1860!
Ivan was an addict, once. He understood the pain of withdrawal. He wants to help, since there was nobody around to help him. The idea of joining the Union was one he hadn't even thought of before his boss had arranged the marriage with the dictatrix. Now, he was thrown into a world he didn't know, forced to interact with people he had never met, and be one of the first nations, the third most powerful, to join a mega-nation.
