Romance
Centuries ago a curse was placed over the Isle of the Damned, following the murder of a village warrior and his beloved. Now he haunts the island daring its inhabitants to awake him, bringing forth a plague over the Earth. An unsuspecting group of travelers embark on a journey to The Isle of the Damned. While some dare to take the trip for the promise of treasure, others take the risk to unlock the secrets of their past. However, these travelers fail to access the risk as heavily as they've assessed the reward. Follow the journey of Remington, a dangerously dashing fugitive alongside Scarlett Briarwood, a glorified bookworm with wit to spare, along with a few comrades, as they embark on the journey of a lifetime, one in which they might not return from. *This story takes place in the 1920's with different customs and technology. Additionally, because this story is so historically based, some of the details are likely to be fictional...which is the purpose seeing as its a fictional story.* *mature themes*

"That's strange," I said thoughtfully. His brow lifted. "What is?" "I always imagined that if fiction ever stepped out of a book, it'd smell like paper. Or ink. Or something like that." I studied him with exaggerated disappointment. "But you smell human. I feel misled." His lips curved - slow, deliberate. Dangerous. "Oh, love," he murmured. "I may not smell like ink..." His steps slowed. "But I assure you," he continued, leaning closer - not enough to touch, just enough to make my pulse stutter - "I taste like it." Heat rushed to my cheeks, the blush spreading like wildfire as I stared at him, utterly shocked. "If you doubt me," he said softly, eyes dropping to my mouth, "there's a very simple way to confirm."
