The Book 1 of the series revolves around Derek Williams Hale, a completely normal human or so he thought. Who lost his father at age seventeen. The death of his father brought pain for he and his mother but Derek found a way to recover from it all.

At 24 he and his mother moved to New Orleans where everything changed for Derek. He found out he wasn't any normal human but a Powerful witch. He crossed paths with the Mikaelson family and was drawn to them. Derek was told to hate Klaus but he never could do that because he couldn't find a way to. He was told to be wary of Elijah but he didn't heed and dived in.The Mikaelson brothers were attracted to him and him to them creating series of dramatic turns between them.

As time went by many secrets were unfolded including the truth behind the death of his father and Derek's true heritage as a siphon witch.

In the end Derek will be placed in a very big situation that seemed impossible to get out of. Will he come out of it or get swallowed by it?
