This was supposed to be a one shot, loosely based on the song Face Down by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, but I got carried away. 

Cheryl Blossom and Toni Topaz met when they were 14, during their freshman year at Riverdale High. They instantly became best friends and both attended NYU together. Cheryl dates Archie Andrews in college and moves back to Riverdale after graduation. Toni stays in NYC at works the New York Times newspaper. They're still best friends, but will they become more?
