In the late 1960's, Lila Jane Adams was leaving for her first day of the help. Her mama has always told her to focus on providing for the white folk and never to ask any questions. Lila finds her self in a whirlwind as she falls for a boy living at the house she was helping at. Only, he's white. And what Lila feels for Stefan is forbidden, frowned upon, and judged.
