Getting Emily

Emily is a 16 year old high school student. She lives in a rather small Californian town with her family. Being a hopeless romantic, she has had a crush on the schools playboy Jake for years, who also happens to occasionally hang out at her parents house because he is friends with Emily's older brother, which didn't make it easier for her to get over him.

She starts her junior year with her friends, which turns out to be much different than the years before. Boys have not shown interest in her at all, until the first day after summer vacation, she finds a note in her locker. And suddenly Jake seems to notice her too, leaving her confused and wondering what had changed over the summer? And then there is Matt, her close friend, who suddenly seems to be so much more than only that.
She experiences love and all good things it has to offer but on the downside making her more vulnerable. Especially the other girls at school don't like the newly developed interest of one special boy for Emily, which makes things way more complicated.

And lastly she is confronted with the decision between love and friendship, having to choose between two people she deeply cares about.
