Millennia ago, the world was rocked by a cataclysmic surge of magic that killed millions, leaving it a shadow of its former self. How this came to be is a mystery, as even those few who witnessed the event do not remember it.
Now, most of the world exists as a mass of floating islands, held aloft by ancient and forgotten magic. Many islands are unique in their own ways, with climates that vary based on altitude rather than latitude. Icy, snow-capped mountain islands can be found just a few days' travel from others covered in dense, lush jungles. Down below, the surface is an alien and primal place, just as changed as the islands that float in the sky. Bioluminescent flora and giant, deadly fauna live side-by-side with savage tribes of humanoids, ignorant of those who live high above them.

(This is just going to be a series of short stories set in a slightly altered version of the original Dragon's Maw lore. Mostly just my idle writing whenever inspiration hits me. Enjoy, I guess :D)

A tale of a New world with new opportunities for those brave enough to venture forth. A tale of a world with a long forgotten history but with a destiny that must yet be fulfilled. Share in the epic travels of Val and Thomas as they explore new lands and cities and interact with a myriad of diverse and interesting characters who inhabit this New World and watch as their destinies inexorably become entwined with that of the land they have been sent to explore. An excerpt from "Sabbanath" The sun was hot those three days. It rose in a clear sky in the morning and except for a few blessed times when a lost cloud shielded them briefly from its rays, it set in a clear sky. Sure, temperatures in Brehin, the capital city of Kiryn where he had been living prior to this expedition, got as high but Thomas didn't usually spend so much time outside in the sun. The introspective mood that had settled on the camp when they had left the temple and the encounter with the Giant Worm had stayed with them for the duration of the journey. The landscape of open grassland was singular and repetitive and it gave you a sense of waiting, of waiting to pass through it until you got to where you were going. In such an atmosphere, no one was in the mood to start a conversation. Talking was reserved for situations that necessitated it. Everyone rode with their eyes fixed on the horizon. The one thing of note was that Dawson was back in his saddle. He refused to stay in the stretcher beyond the first day and said that any discomfort in the saddle would be nothing compared to being bounced along behind a flatulating horse. That had brought a smile to even the captain.

"Let me prove to you I am unlike them." Thousands of years ago, there was a faraway land called Oceanum Collis. Many different people lived among each other in peace. Elves, mermaids, werewolves, and humans. After fighting hundreds of wars, the people came to a compromise and started to work together. Realms were united and civilization was born. Oceanum Collis was beautiful and peaceful, but with light comes darkness. The humans felt left out. While the others had magic and great strengths, they were nothing special. A young man, Basil Adelio, found that humans deserved more than to be farmers. But there was more to his plan. He was after the throne, so he could rule all over Oceanum Collis. Together, the magical creatures were able to stop him. The humans left the lands, leaving behind everything they had built. The alliance between the four people was broken. The elves and mermaids tried to rebuild their alliance, but without the werewolves it was impossible. And so the three different people parted, hardly talking to one another ever again. Now, one hundred years later, a new realm has been created. It was separated from the other realms by a large wall. A new leader has risen from the shadows. He believed that the outside world was filled with dangerous things. So, he made sure everyone stayed within the walls of the empire. And those who didn't were never heard of again. As others always looked away, a young man called Orlando, always glanced beyond the wall. One day, he's able to see what's behind the wall for himself instead of hearing stories. A new world lies ahead of him, but it might not be as beautiful as he had hoped. A/n: Hey guys! So this is an original story. Please, do not copy the story or use my characters without my permission.
