Pure white skin. Coal-black hair. Ruby red lips. Princess Chioni Vasily Angevin of Kriddiren was a renowned beauty.

Princess Artemesia and Prince Cassius Valerian--twin offspring of King Magnuss Valerian of Pheonia--the first vampire hunters to be born to the Pheonian royal family for many generations. 

Both bore the purple fleur-de-lis birthmark that identified all hunters. 

The twins have recently turned sixteen, and Artemesia is betrothed to the ruler of the neighboring kingdom, King Balthazar Angevin of Kridderin. Upon traveling there with her parents and twin brother for her wedding, Artemesia meets and soon becomes dear friends with her future stepdaughter, Princess Chioni of Kridderen.
