"I will never let you die, ever." Amarantha sneered at me and shoved me into the tunnel to the arena in my armor, if you could even call it that, and threw two swords in with me as well

I collected the swords from off the ground and stood in front of the doors. I steeled my face and prepared myself for anything

Amarantha announced my name and the shouts from the crowd began. Clanking from gears started and I knew it was time, the doors opened and I stepped out into the arena. The door slammed shut behind me and I looked into the middle of the arena to see 4 Adders with huge wings.

"I'll need them grounded first..." I whispered to myself and I walked to the middle...

"Everything hurt. Nothing felt...real. It was cold in this dark cell. I had long ago given up screaming for help, or trying to get the door open. The wound in my side would kill me soon. Would anyone come? I didn't know. I didn't care. At least, I didn't care until that door finally opened and a man with wings stepped into my small cell." ****** Adrianna grew up in an Illyrian war camp. Their brutal ways forced her to hide in ways she didn't want to. Then when she was caught teaching herself to fly, she was punished, her wings bound with clamps. Then, her parents presented her with a male that she would marry. He was one of the few considerate Illyrian males in the camp, but when he is suddenly murdered, she is blamed for the heinous crime. Then, she was taken Under the Mountain and forced to fight to the death in a Ring created by the evil Amarantha for the enjoyment of her evil Court. For twenty-two years she remained in a small, dark cell, only leaving to fight or to perform other tasks the evil Fae from Hybern demanded until an Illyrian man came to save her. He was none other than Azriel, the Shadowsinger and the High Lord's Spymaster. Whisked away to the Court of Dreams, her wounds were cared for, her wings... somewhat fixed. Now, she works for High Lord Rhysand as his personal assassin, but when a startling discovery comes around about her past, she must make a decision that could cost her everything. ****I do not own the drawings featured in the cover. And knows she loves him-she just doesn't know that yet herself. But she's about to find out. ~Excerpt~ "Why me?" I asked exasperatedly. "You do all of this for me, and why? For what reason?" "That's where you're still wrong, honey," he said darkly. "I'm not doing this for you. I'm doing this for me. I wanted you, so now you're mine-that's all there is to it. And by being mine, if someone hurts you, they're hurting me. And I am not one to take that disrespect lightly. Do you understand me?" "No." "You will." He knelt next to me, his face hovering over mine, his arms on either side of the machine, caging me beneath his upper body. "I will ruin you-I'll fit you to my mold; I'll take that goody-two-shoes girl you are, and turn her into a force to be reckoned with. One that's mine." I quivered. "All mine." "I..." His proximity had me beyond nervous. My throat constricted as I tried to regain my composure. "Will never be yours." He laughed, his hand caressing my cheek. "You and I both know you already are." *Enemies to lovers (mildly) dark romance* PUBLISHING ALSO ON ROYAL ROAD AS LEELEEACE1

This world is set in the past. In a time where nothing was impossible, Where dragons fly above our heads. We learned to ride them, and become friends with them. We created artifacts that make our dragos small and then big again when we need them. That's what sets our world into two sides. A side where dragon riders lived and flew on them. And a side where they hated dragons, and the one that rode them. Even though we managed to work in peace, there was no war between us. Only fights that were under control and rules. In the Arena in the city called Aeloria. A city where there were both sides. They mostly ignored each other. But it was hard to get in this city. Mostly it was the people that lived there. And a few outsiders, but that was either the sellers, chosen group of warriors or dragon riders, and lastly the best fighters of the academies that went into the arena. To prove who is stronger and the winner will receive high quality weapons or any other things of their choice. One day the darkness came and war started. Not between us, but with a kingdom that was across the sea. And this battle or war changed everything we knew. I'm Ardyn, I'm on the side where we ride on dragons. And this story can be easy but also hard to understand. But I will still share it. But first we have to start from the beginning. What will this story bring? Will we be able to see the outcome? Let's wait and see. --------------------------------------------- "Get on!" Leora screams at Ardyn. Extending her hand for her to take. "No, I'm not getting there I hate ships." I shook my head and took a step back. Leora sighed and shook her head in mocked amusement. "Are you telling me you are able to fly on a dragon. But you are scared of standing on a ship. Don't make me laugh." "Yes. So what, I'm not getting on." I said angry and she grabbed my hand and pulled me up. She had been alone with me before but the air in the car was excruciatingly lovely. It felt like home. It was as if she was my wife and I was just driving us home after a long day. At the same time, it felt like I couldn't breathe. For fucks sake, my chest was sweating, but I loved it. I glanced at her as she was leaning her head on the window, her dark ponytail sprawled over her chest. She looked so daunting and elegant it made my heart clench. Sometimes, when I looked really hard and noticed everything I didn't get the chance to in all of the nine years I've known her before she disappeared, it made me feel like a high school boy again. That feeling of happiness when I was with her. Or even just the thought of her. Fuck. I grabbed a cigarette from out of one the cup holders and lit it up, trying to distract myself from her. I inhaled, but when I turned to look at Selene she was covering her nose with her shirt. I furrowed my brows and scowled. Did I smell? "What's wrong?" I softly asked. She glanced at me and shook her head gently, dismissing me. I clenched my jaw. When I pulled my hand up to inhale another smoke, it finally clicked. I quickly threw it out the window and turned the AC on, rolling our windows up. I felt her stare on the side of my face and gulped, trying my fucking best not to smile. "Why did you do that?" She asked me, her voice low. Almost sounding like she was whispering. I quickly shot her a glance before answering. "You have asthma." Her gaze darkened. It was so quiet I could hear her heart beating rapidly while we stared at each other. I couldn't help but want to reach up and kiss her, and hold her like she deserved. She swallowed her saliva and looked away, a smile starting to form on the corners of her lips. I chuckled, already knowing I couldn't escape her now. I wouldn't be able to. It'd be like not having oxygen. And so help me, God, if I didn't have my oxygen.

Excerpt: ______________________________________________ He marched after, as she strutted away with her gown following effortlessly behind her, even in stress she was beautiful. "Don't run away now darling." He taunted, his steps coming to a halt as she turned around and pressed him against the wall. She snatched her knife from her thigh and held it to his throat, his smirk growing bigger and bigger as she tilted the sharpness to his delicate skin. "I could kill you right now, burn you or wrap my hands around your throat and kill you." She muttered angrily. "You could, but you won't." He shot back. She pressed the knife further in to his neck, his gold chain dangling below her hand. "Why's that?" She sneered, wondering why he wasn't more upset. "Because deep down I know you want that knife dragging along your body, as those hands are tied to my bedposts, and your completely naked skin is aching and shaking for me to fuck the shit out of you, over and over and over, again." He faded into a whisper. The grip on her knife loosen and so did the knots in her stomach. Without thought he smashed her against the wall, grabbed her chin with his large hand and pinned the other next to her head. "Not so cocky are we now?" He poked. "Fuck- you-" she choked out as her lips were smushed together. "Not yet."
