Mailk is a young bay Arabian Stallion. He has lived within the protection of his herd for as long as he can remember....nothing but peace and joy with his mother and brother. However, when the herd's fearless leader, Forthwind, drives Mailk away from his home, he is forced to use all of his cunning and wits to survive.

Ever since that terrible day, Mailk has lived on his own, without the assistance of any other horse since he cannot trust them anymore. He chooses freedom over safety, and has lived for six years alone surviving in the harsh wilderness.

However, when two horses come to his aid in his greatest time of need, Brookside and Lucky, Mailk finds himself torn in staying with his new friends and becoming wild once more. But when a group of humans capture Lucky and take her captive, Mailk chooses companionship over his own freedom, and teams up with Brookside on a daring mission to rescue their friend from human clutches.
