That night, I lied in bed for hours, but sleep was eluding me. I stared up at my bare ceiling and pondered whether I should paint it. I was thinking maybe flowers. But then again, flowers were so overdone these days, and I wanted nothing less than to be the same as everyone else. But flowers really were quite nice. These thoughts circled in my head for goodness knows how long, creating grooves in my memory.

Just as I started to drift off, my phone lit up beside my bed with a new notification. Half asleep, I opened it, but the message itself woke me up completely.
