Lupa Alarick moved away from Beacon Hills with her family when she was 15 after an attack by the hunters. Before that however, she had been best friends with Derek Hale, the only one that Peter Hale truly cared for or spoke to apart from Derek. The Hale and Alarick packs had an alliance until the attack which forced Lupa and her family to up and leave immediately without being able to inform the Hale pack, leaving everyone believing they had all died.
