after spending years being taught by their father how to live the drifter life-style, hustling and cheating their way through life since they could talk, by their alcoholic father (who started drinking after there mother walked out on them), Sam and dean became close through the hardships and abuse of their childhood and eventually become romantically involved and continued to cheat and steal until there shit caches up to them when they kill a bank teller during a high-stakes bank robbery where they were then apprehended and sent to a maximum security prison, dean being charged with felony murder and Sam accessory to murder.
