Emmeline Abernathy isn't your ordinary Faerie, for instance, there's two types of Fae, shadow and light, the two don't mix, only Emmeline isn't one or the other, she's both. 
So what happens when two completely different magic's mix inside one faerie? Emmeline is either the most powerful faerie of her generation or a bomb waiting to explode. 
Honestly, she couldn't care less, all Emmeline wants, is pass her magic training, to become worthy of her kingdoms crown, she wants her parents pride, her family's honour and her people's respect, although, as she soon learns, it's not as easy as waving a magic wand.
