It roots her to the traumas making sure when she's barely conscious on the bathroom floor she can look down and remember what has brought her there. Constant inner turmoil clouds her mind with flashes of self hatred bursting through like lightning.
She doesn't intentionally drown herself in her demons, she can resist it. It is the people surrounding her that choose to neglect her and allow her mind to swallow her.

Altered
Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same. I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy.
