After escaping, a year later Negan finds he's drawn back to Alexandria, which he finds odd, because he knows if they find him they'll throw him back in that goddamn prison. But he finds he doesn't care, in truth, he wants to see Rick. When he shows his face at the gates, and narrowly avoids The Widow shooting him down, he finds Michonne, demanding to know where Rick is. When she informs him that Rick is gone, she leads him to her house, handing him a ratty old shoebox, falling apart and very worn out.
