The Crimson Dragon King felt his life draining as he lay in his bed. Around him, his four dragon warriors knelt, weeping. Suddenly, the curtains above his bed parted and a bird made of silver flames descended. The phoenix landed at the foot of his bed and morphed into a woman with hair the color of the bird's wings. His warriors didn't even look up at her entrance as she cupped her hand on their king's face.
"Darling Hiryuu," she whispered in a melodious voice, "I sense your life will soon be over. But fear not. You shall return in the blazing light of dawn. And when you do, my own champion will be there."
Tsuki smiled down at her king as she felt his heat fade. Behind her, the dragon warriors let loose a cry that would shake the earth. The moon goddess morphed into her immortal form and set off across the land in search of a candidate for her champion. One woman caught her eye, a beauty far beyond compare, her belly plump with a child. Tsuki soared down toward the girl.
Kurai glanced up as a sleek silver bird soared over her head. Inside of her mind, a voice echoed.
"I give you a blessing. One day, a red star will rise at dawn and one of your descendants shall save this country from ruin. Your family must serve the crimson dragon and must protect and love him all the days of their lives and never betray him."
"Thank you, Lady of the Night, for this blessing," she whispered, holding her belly and the child within.

The greenish-blue orbs stared at the group gathering below as she hide behind the curtain watching the crowd. Maharishi, gurus, yogis from all over were sitting infront if the large fire chanting the sacred mantras. Her kohl drawn eyes widened as she let out a gasp, stumbling behind. Her face turned into a rosy flush as a strong hand gripped her shoulders, preventing her from falling down. " Brother...I," She began, blushing brightly as the man placed his finger on her pale lips before walking past her. She pouted and elbowed his ribs, peering from behind him. " I want to see! What's so special ?" She huffed, crossing her hands over her chest as she pouted. " Curiosity Killed the Cat...Come along...if Maharaj found us sneaking around...he would be extremely displeased," The handsome man said as he gripped her hand firmly and dragged her away. She turned her face and sighed seeing Maharaj Draupad face beaming with pride and happiness as he loudly proclaimed that Lord Shiva has blessed him and the entire Panchal nation. " Will he ever look at me like that?," she asked in a forlorn tone causing the elder man to sigh and wrap his arms around her. " I hope not! You my little one deserves more than his desire for revenge," Satyajit said as he pat her shoulder. ****************************************** Aaratrika's life changed the moment her parents conducted the yagna. "Once upon a time there was a dragon that only knew one love, a phoenix." She laughs at me again. "The phoenix was kind, full of compassion. She could see the corruption in the world knowing that eventually the dark would consume the light. The dragon was her natural opposite, ferocious and vengeful. She was his light, but the world needed her. A chief came to the phoenix worried his people would be killed by the evil in people's hearts. He begged the phoenix for help, but because of her innocents in being a phoenix she could not help in her current form without being corrupt herself. So, she did the unthinkable. She abandoned her only love to bond with the chief's unborn daughter. Giving the village a change to preserve goodness, for not just themselves but for the rest of eternity. But the phoenix would not be strong until the human that possesses it was. The phoenix was killed before reaching her full potential, but the phoenix was born again. A man that had fallen in love with the girl sought out the phoenix's lost love knowing he was the only one on the earth that could morn the innocence the world had lost. The beast grew fond of the man and struck a bargain that if the man would accept the dragon, the dragon would infuse himself with man giving him the power to save the phoenix. The man being human would eventually grow old and perish, so the man agreed that not just him but the bloodlines to follow would become vessels for the dragon to preserve itself eternally to save that which he loves. The bloodlines were separated through the ages leaving the phoenix helpless and the dragon bitter. Then one day, a green haired city kid that was yet to find his dragon found his phoenix in English class and stole her first kiss."

"Giyuu-sama!" Aoi's voice broke through the tension, filled with relief as she hurried to Kanao's side, carefully cradling her. "The sun is almost up! We just need to...to..." Her words caught in her throat, her breath hitching as she looked up at Giyuu. He turned to face her, and what she saw made her blood run cold. Giyuu's eyes-once deep, round pools of blue that looked like a calm ocean-were now sharp, vertical slits, glowing with an unnatural light. Aoi's heart pounded in her chest, the realization crashing over her like a wave. The man who had fought so valiantly to protect them, who had refused to give in even when the odds were against him... was now one of them. "No..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "It can't be..." But the truth was undeniable. Giyuu was no longer human. He was a demon. ----- I finally protected someone." Giyuu thought, staring at the faces of Aoi Kanzaki, Kanao Tsuyuri, Kiyo, Naho, and Sumi. Sabito, Nee-san... are you proud of me?
