Twelve year old Sophie and Emerald Foster have a secret. They are telepaths, and have an unique ability to hear the thoughts of everyone around them, something that they've never known how to explain, and has made them an outcast, even in their own family.
But everything changes the day they meet Fitz, a mysterious boy who appears out of nowhere and also reads minds. Sophie and Emerald discover that there is a world where they belonged, and staying where they are will put them in grave danger. In the blink of an eye, Sophie and Emerald are forced to leave behind everything and start a new life, in a place that is vastly different from their own.
They have new rules and skills to learn, and not everyone is thrilled with their "homecoming". There are secrets buried deep in their minds, secrets that other people desperately want. Would even kill for.
