As your slightly lamer-than-usual teenage male, Sorrel stood out. His paintings and drawings were a massive target - one that he refused to give up. He loved drawing. He wasn't going to stop that because of a group of bullies.

But how else could he cope?

Desperate for any escape from reality, Sorrel finds himself in the middle of the forest behind his house, where he finds the Rift. He finds everything he could hope for - and more, in a magical realm called Sage, just a step away from the harsh realities of his human realm. There he sees his imagination come to life, with faeries, queens, intricate ancestry, and infinite amounts of magic.
