Soulmates only exist in the Wizarding World. Essentially, one can delve into the mind of one's soulmate to feel what the other is feeling.

What happens when George's soulmate, the girl he has known to be broken since he first knew what soulmates were, comes along and looks completely fine? Will he be able to make her masking walls come crashing down?

"Did someone touch you?" George's tone however could not be compared to any of the others. It was lethal enough to make someone's blood run cold, threatening enough to make the strongest person fall to their knees in defeat, and I knew that to be in his way at the second would be deathly.
"Who the fuck did this?" He menaced all the while keeping his eyes locked on mine, but from the way he asked the question I could tell he was expecting the boys to answer. His hazel eyes had stormed over, visibly darkened by the sight of what I had hidden, and yet they still held love and clear concern.
"George, really, it looks much worse than it actually is. It's really not that bad-"

UNGIFTED

32 parts Complete

Gifts and soulmates were common currency in Donumdell. From a very young age, that was all its citizens were instilled with. And each and every one of them knew that at some point in their lives, especially between the ages of twelve and twenty-five, they were bound to receive both marks on their wrist. One, in a black tone, denoted the type of gift they had been given at birth. And the second one, in a white tone, dictated that whoever shared that same mark was bound to be their soulmate and with whom they would spend the rest of their lives. But what happens when someone does not receive any kind of mark? How does a society ruled and ranked by those marks react when faced with the presence of someone like that? Especially when it is the daughter of an important family in the community who is about to reach the age limit and there are still no signs of them ever appearing.
