High above the Anchored Earth, burrowed into one of the many floating islands scattered above an endless, ravenous storm, is a grand city. It is called Centris, and it stands alone in its majesty and mastery of the skyclad world.

This City is starting to die.

The Heart, the benevolent sentience which sustains life miles above the ground, is choked and slowly suffocated by twisted alabaster tendrils. A weed, a mind, an invasive thought tries to pry the life from its core. Society crumbles under the weight of its ambition, the government freezes in fear of itself. The colony-island Priat senses weakness, and once again dreams of fire and freedom. Deep in the depths of the City, the least among her people are hunted by monsters born of terror and longing.

Against the aligned will of entropy stands the Speaker, chosen of the Heart and executor of the will of the City, a thaumaturgy-wielding bureaucrat with an uncut soul. His devotion to his City propels him across the strange world of Centris, encountering her people and battling her enemies.

| 𝟳𝘅 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗗 ·|| HUNGER GAMES x CINDER || ONC 2023 Honorable Mention Amidst the escalating unrest between the windborne utopian city of Lighthaven and its seedy, oppressed underbelly Fumedge, the Grand Duke of Lighthaven, Lucius Sextus, comes up with an ingenious solution. To provide much-wanted respite from the brewing conflict, and achieve the apparent-if-temporary unity, he organizes Gaslight Trials - a highly entertaining panem-et-circenses combat event in the Pits. The combatants may use all steam and thaumaturgy powered augmentations at their disposal, and there is only one rule: defeat, or be defeated. The reward for the last one standing? A chance to start their life anew. A brass key to the city of Lighthaven with a luxurious mansion to call their own within, as well as an aeroship to command. When eighteen-year-old Veda Igglesden steps forward to take her timeworn adoptive father's place in the fight, she might as well be signing her death-sentence. With her eyes fully set on the prize, act-first-think-later Veda must harness the power of technology to try and win for her Papa Otto. Decades of breathing in the toxic air of Fumedge did a number on the old inventor's lungs, and being able to live in the air-filtered Lighthaven would sure come in handy right about now. A high-flying adventure full of gadgetry and intrigue; a pleasing blend of steampunk and postapocalyptic. See Veda unravel the mysterious ploy behind the game's organization, and uncover the truth about her secret origins. Can she cope both with the trials of physical and intellectual prowess, as well as with the trials of life itself: those of love, loss and regret? © 2023 EvelynHail Exclusively on Wattpad Based on prompt 49! ~The Elves lost their Magic. The Princess is a Dragon. The Halfling is a Shifter. And Witches rule the Realm.~ Liss' clan lives in a world of seclusion. The Darkbane elves believe it is their penance to spend eternity in Cradelow Valley as divine punishment for forgotten crimes committed by their ancestors. With their numbers dwindling and their magic lost, the Council makes a drastic decree to ensure the survival of the clan. But Liss has plans to escape, along with her best friend Dev. Her goal? Find a spark of magic. If she can do that much, she can prove the goddess hasn't forsaken them and change the fate of her people. ✨ Zan is a changeling and bastard prince of the Yansu, a reclusive dragon-elf clan. He's spent the last decade trying to free his sister from the witches who kidnapped her and stole her magic. Unfortunately, no one believes the crown princess lives, least of all his queen mother. Now the lands ravaged by the witches are stirring to life, amid rumors of the Darkbane's return. If there is any truth to these rumors, Zan will be the first to find out. If the Darkbane elves return, surely they'll depose the witches and set his sister free. Either way, he'll rescue the dragon princess one day or die trying. 🐉 (First draft completed 5/13/24)
