In the midst of a search for the city's notorious serial killer, the city gets a shock the morning after a well-respected mortician James Wilson and head of the police department Bright Anderson are both found dead. Nakim Wilson, his daughter, finds herself naked in the arms of Nemer Anderson, Bright's daughter, with no recollection of what happened the previous night and with the news that she is the murderer that the city is looking for. Confused and scared, Nakim tries to explain herself to the officers about the existence of Morrow and the crimes of Bright. Burdened with the lack of evidence, Nakim begs Yanmar - her lover - to look for who Morrow is and find the evidence that ties Bright to the murders before she goes in front of the court. Posting her bail, Nakim returns to an unfamiliar life where her father's burial business is shut down and her house is graffitied with vulgar language.
